Maker of the Week - Jon Warnes

SCS Maker Jon Warnes works with wood, usually native to Suffolk and as local as possible, preferably freshly cut He carves and turns bowls, vessels and eating implements. Jon is currently working on a new range of bowls, combining texture, carving and colour, alongside a very different range of “wild bowls” where the form is suggested by the raw state of the wood and defects appreciated as character. 

Jon also makes a range of indoor and outdoor furniture usually to commission and is currently working on a series of lightweight stool, benches and side tables. He is using Suffolk Chestnut with Ash which gives an interesting colour combination having come across some exceptional timber with lots of character.
