Ruth Holt
Ruth Holt weaves using principally fine silk and wool yarns on a 24 shaft loom, designing and making cloth of nuanced colour and tactile qualities. Much of Ruth’s designing is inspired by the ever-changing landscapes of Suffolk and the seascapes of Orkney, by their intensity and subtlety of colour and the reflective spaces they hold. A recent artist residency at Linkshouse through the Pier Arts Centre has renewed and deepened her relationship with the complex and dramatic Orkney landscape.
As well as weaving one off pieces both in the form of stoles and wall pieces, she has designed and made up a limited edition of scarves for a City of London Livery Company. She has also woven to commission for a series of vestments for Norwich Cathedral.
