Our current Chair Sarah Thane is retiring from the post at the end of March 2022, read on to see if you are the right person to lead us going forward

Who we are
The Suffolk Craft Society (SCS) was established as a non-profit-making membership organisation in 1970, and since that time has established a reputation for high quality contemporary designer craft-making. Makers apply to join the Society, and, if admitted by their peers, may submit their work to exhibitions organised by the Society and be promoted on its website. In return they help support the running of the Society and its events and take part in other activities and initiatives, all aimed at supporting craft-makers and promoting contemporary craft to the wider public.

What does the role of Chair involve?
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Society through its next phase of development. We are looking for someone with a passion for the creative arts, ideally including crafts, and with vision and motivational skills. The Chair should enjoy working with the wide variety of makers and key stakeholders, and act as the Society’s ambassador. You will chair the Committee which runs the Society, a majority of which are makers. The role is voluntary and unremunerated and for a three-year term which may be extended by mutual consent. The current Chair is retiring from the post at the end of March 2022.
If you feel this is a role which would appeal to you, and you want to find out more, thank you.
A fuller job description is available here>>, or you can contact Sarah Thane, current Chair of the Society to discuss.
