My enamelled silver and copper jewellery is a response to my observations of built up town and cityscapes, celebrating the clash with the forms, colours and shapes in the natural world.
East Anglia provides me with good light and open spaces plus a sense of calm - but it is the border line with man-made environments that offers up new and dynamic shapes that I explore via 3D construction and a playful approach to colour.
I aim to have clarity and purity of line to my work, dispensing with details that do not need to be there. All pieces are handmade so whilst some designs are repeated, they are never identical. I am the ‘Objects & Space’ coordinator at Colchester School of Art and have exhibited my work nationally and internationally since first graduating in jewellery design in 1991 then gaining Distinction in M.A Sculptural Practice in 2011.
