This simple necklace makes a bold statement. It is made from wax finished end grain bog oak on soft stainless steel wire secured with a magnetic catch, with a choice of round or oval pieces. Locally recovered the bog Oak is estimated to be approximately 3000 years old from a time when ancient forests were felled by rising sea levels. Buried in oxygen free silt the Oak does not rot and turns black from minerals absorbed. Slowly rising again to the surface it eventually becomes a hazard to farmers who often simply pull it out and leave it to rot.Necklace is 45 cm long and comes in a black velour drawstring pouch.Each piece is made individually and the grain of the wood supplied may vary from that pictured.
