One of a series of wall pieces evoking dreams of summer gardens, handwoven in silk and mounted for hanging.
One of a series of wall pieces evoking dreams of summer gardens. This series of small wall pieces are of handwoven silks, using a colour palette inspired by Monet’s paintings of his garden at Giverny. The weaving evokes the textures and subtle colour shifts seen in summer gardens.
Woven on a 24 shaft loom, the pieces are mounted using mounting board together with a soft supporting lining and finished with a calico backing and picture cord. The piece is stitched into place and no glue or adhesive have been used. This long shaped piece emphasises differing textures and shows how changes in weave structure may influence mood. Just the right size for a narrow wall space it measures 9.8cm x 35.8cm.
