Margaret Catchpole's Cottage
Continually fascinated by the textures and patterns found in the natural world around her, honorary member Della's particular interest in etching and aquatint is demonstrated in her prints of the Suffolk countryside. Working in close proximity to the subject matter, she draws directly onto a copper or steel plate, using a sharp metal point. These plates are then immersed in acid and ‘bitten', rolled up with printing inks and printed onto paper through an etching press. Della trained as a painter at Goldsmith's College in London.
