Mark Papworth

The society welcomes new member Mark Papworth.
Mark is a master of traditional English leatherworking, deeply rooted in the rich history of the craft. He draws inspiration from the techniques and designs of his predecessors, using the same tools and materials that have withstood the test of time. His creations embody a timeless elegance, characterized by simple, clean lines and forms. At the core of his work are meticulously hand-stitched, practical leather goods built for durability and longevity, each item crafted to serve its purpose for many years to come.
In addition to his new pieces, Mark is also dedicated to the restoration and repair of old leather items that have stood the test of time. These cherished objects, having experienced the wear and tear of life, are carefully restored with attention and skill, returning them to their former glory while maintaining their unique character.
Mark’s passion for leatherworking extends beyond his own creations. He is eager to share his knowledge and craft with others, offering personalised courses at his home in North West Suffolk. Whether working with individuals or small groups, Mark ensures that his students gain a deeper understanding of the art of leatherworking, all while nurturing their own creative journeys.
