Welcoming new member, Sue Caddy.

Sue’s ceramic work is inspired by found objects in the natural world. She is particularly drawn to shell, fossil, seed, and plant forms, creating pieces that echo their intricate and organic spiral structures.

Her ceramics are hand-built using a range of techniques, including slab construction, coiling, and pinching, often supported by formers to establish structure. Surface plays a vital role in her practice, and she regularly experiments with oxides and glazes to achieve varied and expressive finishes. Continually pushing her technical boundaries, Sue allows each piece to evolve intuitively during the making process, resulting in distinctive, one-of-a-kind works.

As her practice has developed, her work has moved towards a more neutral colour palette. Through the considered use of specific clays and oxides, she enhances the textured surfaces she sculpts, bringing subtle depth and harmony to each piece.
