After graduating from Birmingham University, Don spent many years teaching Art and the History of Art to A-level students. Following his retirement in 2015, he dedicated himself fully to ceramics and sculpture. As a member of the artistic community at Butley Mills Studios, Don enjoys a vibrant, collaborative environment with fellow artists working across a variety of media.  

 

Don specializes in large sculptural stoneware vessels and figures, each of which are carefully fired multiple times using slips, glazes, and oxides to achieve the rich surface qualities he envisions.
