Mavina Baker

The Suffolk Craft Society is delighted to welcome Mavina Baker as a new member.

Mavina is a printmaker whose work is rooted in an experiential approach, allowing ideas to emerge through the act of making. Working from her printshop on the Essex coast, she explores the material qualities of the handmade, using printmaking as a reflective, rhythmic process.

Her prints are not only visual but emotional explorations—quiet, contemplative pieces that speak to the experience of being human. Recurring motifs such as birds and boats reflect themes of memory, transience, and solitude, often inspired by the shifting landscape between land and sea.

Mavina holds an MA in Multi-Disciplinary Printmaking from the University of the West of England, Bristol, and works primarily in relief print, collage, and stencil. Her evolving body of work is connected by the distinctive, hand-printed mark at its core.
