Lin Carter

We’re delighted to welcome textile and basketry artist Lin Carter as a new member of the Suffolk Craft Society.

With a practice rooted in tradition and sustainability, Lin works with materials she gathers and grows herself – including willow from her garden, rush from local rivers, and fleece from the rare breed sheep of Orfordness. Her studio is home to looms of varying age and character, which she restores and uses to weave pieces full of warmth, texture and meaning.

From woven and felted hats, scarves and throws to hand-crafted baskets and decorative forms, Lin’s work reflects a deep respect for heritage, material, and place. She is also a passionate teacher, committed to passing on her skills and love for making to others.

We’re thrilled to have her as part of the Society, you can read more about her basketry here and her textiles here. We hope you're as excited as we are to see her work at our upcoming exhibition at the Guildhall in Bury St Edmunds.
