Juliet Lockhart

We are delighted to welcome textile artist Juliet Lockhart as a new member of the Suffolk Craft Society, following our selection process earlier this year.

Juliet is a maker at heart, whose practice explores “silent histories”, work that draws attention to the lives of ordinary people. Some achieved extraordinary things, while others quietly played their part, living with the same needs, hopes, and constraints that have shaped human experience across time. Her work is inspired by museum collections, archival stories, folk tales, and local history, and is brought to life through an evolving exploration of materials and processes.

Over the past decade, Juliet has focused on developing the use of seed stitch, employing a minimalist approach to texture and colour to create striking stitched portraits. She often incorporates found objects and vintage linens, responding to their inherent character and reimagining them as settings for her work.

We look forward to seeing Juliet’s work in future exhibitions and warmly welcome her to the Society.
