We’re excited to welcome maker Heidi McEvoy-Swift to the Suffolk Craft Society.
Working under the term sewn sculpture, Heidi creates one-of-a-kind vessels and wall-hung 3D pieces using hand-stitched scrap fabrics and found organic materials. Her work is fully sustainable, combining rich theatrical remnants with natural matter gathered from woodland and coast.
Currently exploring themes of rising sea levels and coastal erosion, Heidi’s work reflects on our relationship with the natural world—what we value, discard, and attempt to control.
Trained in Textile Design at Central School of Art, Heidi has worked in industry, education, and community arts. She also works as a theatre costume designer, an influence evident in her use of texture and form.
