Welcome to our new Chair, Juliet Bowmaker

We are pleased to announce the appointment of a new Chair to the Suffolk Craft Society, Juliet Bowmaker. Juliet writes...
"After an initial career in law, I studied Art History at Trent Polytechnic and subsequently opened a gallery in Nottingham with a rolling programme of fine and applied arts.
A move to Cambridge in the late nineties led to a change in direction and my setting up a consultancy providing artwork for hospitals and the corporate sector. In time I found premises in the city centre and opened another gallery. The gallery showed at the major London art fairs and further afield in Glasgow, Dublin and New York.
Since then, I have worked with light artists for e-Luminate, the Cambridge Light Festival, Gainsborough’s House on the exhibition committee, Ipswich Arts Association as its Secretary and my own consultancy managing projects in the public sector.
I am now a practising jeweller and understanding life as a maker. I have worked in the creative industries for the past thirty years and am as passionate now about the applied arts as I am about Suffolk where I have lived since 2006."
