Some of our members are taking part in this year’s Suffolk Open Studios and we’re excited to highlight the work of our talented participating artists:
Printmakers Helen Maxfield and Annabel Ridley will be opening their studios this June and warmly welcome visitors.
Helen, based near Needham Market, creates beautiful limited edition linocuts inspired by the Suffolk countryside and coastline. Her process begins with observational sketches made during her walks, which she then develops into striking prints in her home studio. Her work celebrates both the character of the local landscape and the expressive, textural quality of linocut printing.
Annabel works on a larger scale, adapting the screen printing process to layer depth, detail, and colour across paper, canvas, and cloth. She combines photographic and paper stencils in hybrid printmaking techniques, building complex compositions that fuse figurative and abstract elements. Her work draws from sketching, mark-making, and explorations in colour, with themes often rooted in the fields, gardens, and coastlines of Suffolk.
Suffolk Open Studios runs throughout June, offering a fantastic opportunity to meet artists, explore their creative spaces, and discover a wide range of artistic practices.
