Some of our members are taking part in this year’s Suffolk Open Studios and we’re excited to highlight the work of our talented participating artists:

This June ceramicists Cathy D'Arcy, Usch Spettigue, Robert Wickens, Kate Reynolds, and Janene Waudby will be opening their studios and warmly welcoming visitors.

Cathy D’Arcy originally trained as a textile designer, specialising in handwoven floor rugs, before turning to pottery 35 years ago. She has been joyfully working with clay ever since.

Usch Spettigue creates one-of-a-kind, functional pieces in thrown porcelain, using her own unique glazes. Some of her larger works are spray-glazed, allowing for multiple layers of colour and texture.

Robert Wickens embraces a spontaneous and intuitive process. Whether creating wall hangings, tiles, or sculptural pieces, he begins with loose sketches and responds directly to the clay as he builds.

Kate Reynolds focuses on sculptural ceramics, often exploring themes of the human head and figure. She uses clear profiles and outlines to create bold, simple forms.

Janene Waudby creates ceramic pieces inspired by the wild coasts of the British Isles, using burnishing, slips, oxides, and elemental processes to evoke a raw, intuitive connection with nature.

Suffolk Open Studios runs throughout June, offering a wonderful opportunity to meet artists, step into their creative spaces, and experience the rich diversity of artistic talent across the region.
