As part of London Craft Week, the Suffolk Craft Society is proud to present Suffolk in the City, an exhibition curated by its Patron and former Chair, Trevor Pickett. Following a highly successful debut last year, the Society is delighted to return in May 2026 with a carefully selected group of members whose work reflects the exceptional standards of craftsmanship and creativity for which the Society is known. Spanning a wide range of disciplines, the exhibition offers visitors a rich insight into both Suffolk’s craft heritage and the contemporary innovation of its makers.
This year’s sculptors bring a distinctive range of materials and approaches:
Anne Schwegmann-Fielding transforms discarded materials into vibrant sculptural works. Using fragments of British tableware, broken jewellery and even windscreen glass, she creates intricate mosaics guided by the patterns and histories embedded within each piece. Familiar ceramic designs, including traditional motifs and makers’ marks, are reimagined into contemporary artworks, often incorporating personal items to create meaningful, commissioned pieces.
Mary Anstee-Parry is a professional wood and letter carver whose practice is rooted in traditional craftsmanship and historical knowledge. Working primarily to commission, she has produced a significant body of carved heraldic work in oak, alongside sculpture in both wood and stone. Drawing on a lifetime of acquired techniques, her work reflects a deep engagement with historical forms, while more recent explorations into ephemeral materials signal an evolving response to sustainability and contemporary concerns.
Nicci Dedman creates intricate three-dimensional sculptures using wire alone, often repurposed steel. With a background in jewellery, she has developed a distinctive sculptural language that avoids soldering or welding, relying instead on hand-crafted construction. Inspired by local flora and fauna, her work captures a balance between strength and delicacy, while her ongoing exploration of the material has also led to the creation of functional outdoor pieces.
London Craft Week celebrates outstanding British and international craftsmanship, bringing together over 1,000 makers, designers and galleries from across the world. Within this context, Suffolk in the City highlights the strength and diversity of Suffolk’s creative community, where traditional skills meet contemporary practice.
The exhibition will take place at Pickett London in Mayfair, from 11–17 May. More information is available here >>
