SDC Celebrates Collaboration is an inspiring day that also offers a wonderful opportunity to connect with the Crossing Crafts collaboration between our two organisations.

Crossing Crafts brings together makers from both societies to explore new ideas, materials and perspectives through creative partnership. SDC Celebrates provides a perfect moment within that journey to meet fellow participants, share experiences and spark further conversation around collaboration.

We hope that members involved in the Crossing Crafts project will be able to attend and, if possible, bring along examples of their work to show informally during the day. This does not need to be collaborative work — individual pieces from each maker in a pairing are equally welcome. These small displays help introduce the makers involved in the project and often prompt lively discussions. From experience, these mini showcases are always popular, as people enjoy seeing work in the flesh and talking directly with the makers behind it.

The day itself will feature a series of inspiring talks from makers working across ceramics, wood and textiles, each sharing their own perspectives on collaborative practice. From creative partnerships and product development to communities and cross-pollination of ideas, the speakers will explore how collaboration can create impact in powerful and unexpected ways.

SDC Celebrates is always a warm and welcoming event, a chance for makers to connect, exchange ideas and enjoy a day of inspiring conversation. Craft enthusiasts and admirers are also very welcome.
