A reminder that applications are now open for the SCS Small Business Grant, offering up to £500 to support creative projects by our members. The deadline for this round is Sunday 30th November 2025 (midnight).
These grants help Makers develop their practice, explore new ideas, or support community-focused work.
Lovely to hear from our previous winner, Moira Goodall:
Earlier this year I was very pleased to receive an SCS Small Business Grant. I had been considering a wall-mounted clay extruder for some time, but at around £500 it felt like a luxury, essentially a large metal syringe for making coils. As someone who hand-builds coil pots, I knew I could continue to make coils by hand, but the process is slow, repetitive, and was beginning to strain my hands.
The extruder has made an enormous difference. It produces beautifully even coils in seconds, with interchangeable dies for different diameters and shapes. My production has increased, the quality is more consistent, and the wear on my hands has eased. Thank you, Suffolk Craft Society.
If there’s a piece of equipment that would genuinely improve your making, I’d encourage you to apply for the Small Grant. The process is straightforward and there are two rounds each year.
Who can apply?
Full SCS Members (for at least one year)
Individuals, groups or partnerships with a strong link to Suffolk or the Eastern region
Applicants should demonstrate excellence in their craft or meaningful community engagement
Please note: we cannot fund projects already underway, or those previously supported in the same financial year.
