Explore the Italianate Palace at the heart of the magnificent National Trust, Ickworth estate, surrounded by over 1,800 acres of parkland and gardens, with 26 miles of paths to discover. And while you’re there, don’t miss the Suffolk Craft Society Summer Exhibition, featuring exceptional work from more than 40 SCS members.
You can also discover the exciting first results of Crossing Crafts, a collaborative project between Suffolk Craft Society and the Society of Designer Craftsmen, bringing together makers from both organisations in a celebration of creativity, craftsmanship and collaboration.
On Sunday 6th, SCS member Joy Holden will be giving a live demonstration of her distinctive mosaic-making technique. Joy specialises in the ‘reverse method’, a process that creates mosaics with an unusually flat surface. Her original designs combine finely cut glass and ceramic tesserae to create intricate and captivating works of art.
So, whether you’re visiting for the crafts, the gardens, the walks or simply a wonderful day out, Ickworth is the perfect destination this weekend. Come and enjoy the estate, meet the makers and discover the remarkable work of Suffolk’s craft community.
