As London Craft Week starts today (12th May), Suffolk in the City brings some Society makers to the capital in a vibrant celebration of creativity, heritage, and craftsmanship. Curated by Suffolk Craft Society Patron and former Chair Trevor Pickett, the exhibition marks the Society’s 55th anniversary and showcases the work of over 20 artists.

From ceramics and sculpture to textiles, jewellery, woodwork, and more, this diverse group of makers demonstrates the richness of Suffolk’s contemporary craft scene. Visitors can explore elegant smoke-fired vessels, eco-conscious textiles, symbol-rich sculptures, handcrafted musical instruments, and finely turned wood pieces—each rooted in nature, tradition, and innovation.

Highlights include jewellery by Susi Hines, who blends traditional goldsmithing with modern design; woven silk landscapes by Ruth Holt; and intricate bookbinding by Paul Garcia. Sculptural works by artists such as Nicci Dedman and Anne Schwegmann-Fielding add a playful yet meaningful layer to the display.

Held at Pickett London in Mayfair, the exhibition runs from 12–18 May. It offers a rare chance to engage with some of Suffolk’s finest makers in the heart of London.
