The doors are now open on our Summer Exhibition at National Trust Ickworth, where we are showcasing work from over 40 of our talented makers.
Open daily from 10am to 4.30pm, the main exhibition can be found in the WestWing Gallery, with additional displays throughout the main house. Inspired by the Hervey family Collections, a selection of our makers have created contemporary pieces that respond to Ickworth’s rich heritage and are displayed alongside the collections that inspired them.
This year’s Summer Exhibition also features work from Crossing Crafts, an exciting collaborative project between the Suffolk Craft Society and the Society of Designer Craftsmen. Bringing together makers from different craft disciplines, the project encourages the sharing of skills, ideas and creative approaches, resulting in fresh perspectives and truly unique pieces of work. Throughout the exhibition, some of our makers will also be demonstrating their skills and sharing an insight into how their wonderful creations are made. This weekend, Mark Papworth will be demonstrating traditional leathercraft on Saturday, while Cathy D’Arcy will be showing how she works with clay on Sunday. Further demonstrations will be announced as the exhibition progresses.
