While visiting the Suffolk Craft Society Summer Exhibition, take time to explore one of Suffolk's most remarkable historic estates.
Ickworth is instantly recognisable by its magnificent Rotunda, inspired by the great buildings of ancient Rome. Created by the remarkable Frederick Hervey, the 4th Earl of Bristol—better known as the Earl-Bishop—the estate reflects his passion for classical architecture, travel and art collecting. His vision was to create a country house unlike any other in Britain, combining a spectacular family home with a world-class art gallery.
Today, Ickworth is home to an internationally important collection of paintings, silver and decorative arts, including works by masters such as Titian, Thomas Gainsborough and Angelica Kauffman. Surrounded by more than 1,800 acres of parkland, gardens and woodland, it offers visitors the perfect setting to enjoy history, nature and contemporary craft in a single day.
Now cared for by the National Trust, Ickworth continues to inspire generations of visitors.
